NetNewsWire and WebnoteHappy

WebnoteHappy was designed from the ground up to work with NetNewsWire, the most popular RSS aggregator for Mac OS X.

Configure NetNewsWire integration

If you are a NetNewsWire or NetNewsWire Lite user, you can take a webnote on the feed entry that you're reading by selecting the Post to Weblog menu item or toolbar item.

In order to set it up, go to "NetNewsWire > Preferences..." Then choose the Weblog Editor toolbar item. Then choose "Other..." from the "Weblog editor application:" dropdown. Then choose WebnoteHappy.

Writing webnotes from within NetNewsWire

You can use the global hotkey for adding/editing webnotes from within NetNewsWire, just like in your web browser. See the above instructions for how. Note that this only works in the full version of NetNewsWire, not NetNewsWire Lite.

You can also set up WebnoteHappy as the Weblog Editor for NetNewsWire. If you do so, then you can use the "Post to Weblog" toolbar button to add or edit a webnote. This transfers you to WebnoteHappy, like the bookmarklet. Note that this works with NetNewsWire Lite as well as the full version of NetNewsWire.
