Getting Started with WebnoteHappy
What is WebnoteHappy?
WebnoteHappy is a new bookmarking application for Mac OS X that helps you organize and remember the web pages that matter to you. Each web page can be personalized with notes and tags as you bookmark it, creating a "webnote". The fast integrated search makes it easy to find your webnotes again. Organize your webnotes with folders and smart folders.
Use the global hot key to Add and Edit webnotes
The easiest way to add a webnote for the page you're viewing in your browser is with the global hot key. By default, this is Command-Shift-D. Once you press this, a dialog will appear that lets you enter in a note and tags for the page. If there are existing notes or tags, those will be shown.
Use the global hot key to Search your webnotes
Search your webnotes quickly by pressing the global hot key Command-Shift-Space. This will take you straight to search field in WebnoteHappy.
Optional: Customize the global hot keys
If you want to use a key combination other than Command-Shift-D for Add webnote or Command-Shift-Space for Search your webnotes, then you can change this in "WebnoteHappy > Preferences" and go to the Shortcuts tab.
Install the "Webnote It" bookmarklet into your web browser
Please install the "Webnote It" bookmarklet so you can enjoy a seamless experience with your web browser and WebnoteHappy.
To do so, please choose the menu item "File > Install Bookmarklet". This will show the Install Bookmarklet web page in your default browser. Drag the actual words "Webnote It" to the Bookmarks Bar. You should see a green "+" once it is over a place where you can drop it. After you drop it, you should see the words "Webnote It" on your Bookmarks Bar.
Import Safari bookmarks
You can trade in your Safari bookmarks for webnotes by importing them into WebnoteHappy. This will help you manage them better and allow you to search them easier. After you import them, the collection that filed the bookmark in will be converted to tags on the webnote.
As an added benefit, duplicate bookmarks are merged during the import process. Webnotes are unique by URL in WebnoteHappy.
To import your bookmarks, choose the menu item "File > Import from Safari"
Lite: Safari collections are stored as notes.
