Organizing your webnotes with Folders and Smart Folders
Folders
WebnoteHappy allows you to create folders to organize your webnotes. You can nest folders underneath other folders. To create a new folder go to File > New Folder. You can also push the '+' button in the lower left corner of WebnoteHappy.
Create as many folders as you want. Once created, you can drag the folders around to change how they're nested as well as their display order.
Now, to organize your webnotes in these new folders, simply drag and drop the note to the requested folder and you're done. Notice that the note is still also stored in the Library. Webnotes can be stored in as many folders as you like. If you've nested a folder the parent folder contains all the webnotes stored in itself as well as all of its children.
Deleting a folder does not delete the webnotes stored within it.
Smart Folders
Smart Folders have rules that describe which webnotes are contained in the smart folder. The rules are based off of the webnotes note, tags, title, URL or import source.
For example, if you wanted a smart folder that contained all the webnotes that were imported from Safari you would:
- File > New Smart Folder (or hold down option and the lower left corner's '+' button turns into a 'gear' button for 'New Smart Folder').
- Give your new smart folder a name
- Select Import Source from the rule drop down.
- Select 'Is Equal To'
- Insert 'Safari' as the text.
- Press the 'OK' button.
Now select your new Smart Folder. If you've imported Safari's bookmarks the Smart Folder will contain those webnotes.
Feel free to play around by creating new webnotes with different rules. Creating, modifying or deleting a smart folder does not change any attribute of the webnotes that appear within the smart folder. All webnotes are always stored in the global "Library" item.
Default Folders
There are three default folders which can't be edited. The first is the "Library". This contains all your webnotes. The second is "Last 24 hours", which contains the webnotes you have created in the last 24 hours. The third is "Last 7 days", which contains the webnotes you have created in the last 7 days.
